Has anyone substituted vermiculite for perlite? I am having a problem finding the vermiculite in Seattle.

try finding vermiculite at garden supply stores. i usually pick ours up at Home Depot.

perlite is not the same though, not at all. at the very least, try it 50/50 soil and sand. you can still make it work well

I tried several Home Depots and Wal-Mart. They both have lots of perlite. I'll try the nurseries and such.
