QUESTIONS!!!!!

Hi all!!!

Just a few questions. I am thinking of buying a pair of collared lizards in the spring as this is the only time i can get them here in the uk but before i do i would like to know if it is the same everywhere that the majority of collareds bought from pet shops are wild caught and if so will that cause a problem when trying to breed or if stress levels are increased from some reason? Is there something i can get from my rep vet to rid them of internal parasites as they are probably wild caught, or does it not matter...

Kind Regards

Hi Dazz,

where are you planning on geting your collareds from? I found mine in a petshop in cardiff, but i havent managed to find many other places that sell them in the uk at all. Chances are, if they are adults, they will be captive bred, and therefore likely to have parasites. Its worth taking them to the vet for a fecal sample if they dont look well. It cost about £20 for the test, and they can give you a broad spectrum deparasiter that you can use on lizards. I managed to get a large bottle from the vets, so i can dose it myself on any new arrivals i have. I hope that helps.

Dan.
