Need Pics of Whoppers!!!

Heather Jan 16, 2004 04:25 PM

Hi Guys. I'm actually making a website and I have several caresheets on there, including one about igs. Well, My "big" male is only 4 feet long. I was wondering if anyone had pics of some BIG! boys that I could use on my website to show people just how big these guys can get... Some really impressive shots would be really appreciated... Also some shots of MBD cases... To show what happens when they aren't cared for correctly... Of course I'd give credit of the pics to whos ever they were.... Thanks guys!!

Hi,

Here are some pics of my male iguana that I rehabilitated. The first two pics are when I first brought him home. He was *severely* stressed, anorexic and infested with parasites. This is an example of what can happen when an ig is housed with another dominant ig (as was the case here). The last pic is the same male iguana, just a few months later.

Hope these help! Please send us the link to your site when you're done.

Maybe these will help some...credit Mid Michigan Reptile Rescue.

Squig

Adult male in a full sized tub

Miggs

Heat rock burns

MBD

Rescue that originated with Michigan NIAD

And another rescue with multiple problems...this one never had a chance

And our wonderful mascot, Kermit, who lost part of his face to a larger iguana.

Jiffy, That's Exactly! What I was looking for!! But I'd like even MORE pics of Big boys to drive the point home. Got any pics that there is a size comparison? Like A big boy against something so size can be proven? Here's a link to my caresheet so you can see what you contributed to. THe Ig sheet is the 4th one down. At the bottom of the sheet is a link to the page where the pics you gave me are. Let me know what you think, k?
My caresheets....

use your pictures? Last summer I started going into some of
the petshops to educate people on the proper care of reptiles,
specifically Iguanas and turtles. I by no means know everything
about them but I teach the basics. I have a couple of pictures
of MBD but nothing like these.

The last picture that you posted was precious! What an Ig!

Linda, sorry it took so long for me to get back with you. Of course you may use the photos as long as you credit the rescue. Education is so important!!
Sorry to hear about your renewed troubles. Wish I had some suggestions for you.

I don't really have any good size comparison shots right now. When my daughter gets her new camera in a couple of weeks I'll see if we can get some current ones. I love this photo.

Thanks for the kind comments. Squig was an amazing lizard in every way. His temperament was like a big old lapdog. Unfortunately we lost Squig late last summer to a combination of illnesses. Two years ago he had to have all but 8 inches of his tail amputated due to infections from poor circulation. He never fully recovered good health after that and early years of poor husbandry caught up with him and he began suffering from liver failure. I did what I could to keep him comfortable and held him and hand fed him 3 times a day for 2 months after he got disinterested in eating. I finally had to make the decision to end his life struggle, the same day I lost my 8 year old Cuban Rock female to egg peritonitis. That was a sad, tragic day and it still hurts.

Our Squiggy was the picture of iguana tolerance. He was a star of educational presentations, let all the other lizards here at home crawl all over him, and let the cats bask with him.

For injuries and MBD Pics check my photo gallery. I have quite a few of abcesses and MBD. The Iguanas named poopers were owner surrenders that did have to be euthanized. I also have two loverly thermal burn pics. If you use any please contact my privatly and let me know what you are using and I will give you the credit info.
