Hey Luna!

anson Jan 16, 2004 04:31 PM

exactly how cold is it where you live now?
It is going to get pretty cold here tonight I think maybe even in the forties and our high only got into the low seventies.
I know you don't care due to your basking lights but you might want to rub that in a bit with your mom.

Dear Aunt Sonia

Even tho I was born in the hot south Mom has quickly aclimated me to being a bit of a snow-cham. She lets it get to about 60 at night, but we are in the warmest room on the south side - I get a nice stream of sun in the afternoon. It is currently 7 degrees (hmmm 5 above a few hours ago!) and will only get down to minus 3 - that's nothin'

Mom actually likes the cold. Maybe not quite this cold but she's going snowshoeing on Sunday when it will be a balmy 25!

and you do this for fun?

lele Jan 16, 2004 05:43 PM

yeah! You're a northeastern boy - no snowshoeing? It is actually a lot of fun, good exercise and you can go far off the beaten trail. It's cool to be standing on several feet of snow! Try it some time!

as you well know...long island is as flat as a pancake...there is no "off the beaten trail"...all the trails are very well beaten...unless i wanna go to the pine barrens but thats where all the serial killers throw the bodies.

lele Jan 16, 2004 06:24 PM

oh that's right - you're from the South shore! The North shore is mountainous - well, maybe not mountainous but it has big cliffs, hills (thank the glaciers for that - you guys got gypped!) and I could think of some places to go. Don't be such a wuss - try it!

As for those bodies...that drunk hobbit told me some stories

Hey! I resemble that remark! I am 4 ft 11 inches.
I would sink in that snow and no one would find me till spring.

You guys talk about 0 degrees and minus three like it's nothing.
I am definately tropical! I can't even think about those temperatures without shuddering.

Would you believe that I have never even seen it snow!

chimbakka Jan 17, 2004 11:02 PM

I'm in Ontario. It's freaking cold here right now. So cold your nostrils freeze together before you even feel how cold it is in your body. Last week it went down to -30*C WITHOUT the windchill...

Wow! Sounds great. It has been in the 80's here all week until today. It was 86 on tuesday. Oh well, soon it will be warm again. 86 degrees feels so cold when you have to go to work in January.

It's only going down to 50F tonight and the high was actually 74F
How high will it actually get during the warmest part of the day.
Like when the sun comes out. You do see the sun right or are you in so much cloud cover that you don't even get that.

Same here! Where do you live. I can't stand January, it's the most horrible thing to experience. You can't even walk to your car without your lungs freezing from the inside out. Yuck!
