The problem with Ball Pythons is that many of the ones you see for sale are either wild caught or farm born (born to wild caught females). Those snakes can be hard to acclimate. Beware that many sellers sell the farm born snakes as "captive born".
If you can get a captive bred and born Ball Python (they are more expensive!), they are easier, but still have specific care needs that are more difficult to meet than those of a rosyboa.

May I make a suggestion?
You have identified that you do not have a solid herp keeping background.
Start with a snake that is easier to keep. Master the art first with a snake that has lots of care sheets, easy to feed, just as satisfying, and more tolerable to mistakes.
When you have this under control and you have read more about snakes. You will not need to ask anyone which is better.
Correct husbandry of snakes is a serious undertaking. If you have not done your home work your animal will suffer. Your experience will be a bad one and you will not continue you efforts.
Besides Corn snakes come in beautiful colors now and affordable.
Just a suggestion……Dann
