I need help...just rescued a sickly Iguana

CrimsonKnight26 Jun 05, 2003 09:26 PM

Hi. My name is James. I have just, today, purchased a sickly Iguana from a pet store. The previous owners gave the little guy to the pet store because they no longer had interest in him. He has suffered greatly from the previous owners as he is in poor condition and sickly underfed. I have one iguana, Samson, which I have a few pictures already posted and he is in excellent health. Does anyone have any tips on getting sick iguanas to eat because my new iguana,Thurgood, does not seem to want to eat. I appreciate any and all help.
Thank you
James

I rescued a little ig 2 months ago in a very bad condition too. Look the photo below! He didnt want to eat as well.So i bought in the supermarket a box of infant cereal, vegetable flavor that has lots of vitamins and spread a little bit on his food.He loved the taste and started eating like an ogre.On the photo nr 2 you will the difference 5 weeks later!

A friend of mine offered this suggestion: Use a food processor or blender & mix some water with greens, to make it pureed. Then put a drop or two of it on his snout for him to lick off. It isn't unusual, however, for them not to eat for a few days while acclimating to their new environment. Good Luck & keep us posted!
