This animal came from a reptile rescue, suposedly from a pro athletes collection, the poor thing has many old bite scars and new ones from what appears to be a large dog. One as a matter of fact caused a bulge of skin on the left rear leg (visible in the pic). Hes got such a wonderful attitude and hes a strong one. Hes missing about a foot of tail, with this hed be over 5 ft long, he weighs 16lb-10 ounces. I think he made an excellent choice getting this big boy.

It is good to know people will accept and happily take care of such mis-treated animals...damn, dog bites? I love dogs too, but to imagine an owner treating anything like this varanid by allowing his dog to chew on it is disgusting! Good luck and thanks for sharing...I took in a savanna monitor many years ago that had maybe 6 inches of tail, a horrible burn on its back and 1 missing foot - and lived with me for 8 happy years - amazing animals.

i also took in an abused argus. she was a female so in turn i decided to buy a male at the same time a couple years back. she got better quick (with the controversial triple antibiotic ointment).

great animals argus are.

i would think that with you keeping bt's that an argus would be kind of a mixup in animals, shake things up a bit and make it more fun. i highly recommend them.
