feeder rodents at columbus show

scapelli Jan 16, 2004 11:12 PM

Anyone go to the columbus show often that can give me an idea of what to expect for feeder prices. I live about 3 and a half hours away, so depending on the prices, the gas I use wouldnt cost as much as the shipping from an online dealer. My other option is to join a herp society that is about an hour and a half away and get a discount through them, but then I'm paying yearly dues plus driving an hour and a half to pick up the mice. Anyone know roughly how much pinkies, fuzzies, mice and small rats cost at the show?

I haven't been there in 9 months, but they are pretty reasonable.

$4 to get in.

For adult mice, expect ~$0.6
For pinkie mice, ~$0.3

For rat pinks, ~$0.5
For med rats, ~150g, ~$1.5
For large rats, ~300g ~$2.0

I'd guess them mice prices are more accurate than the rats.

I remember paying $0.9 for each "X-Small" rat, ~50g each the only time I have ever bought rodents frozen, from the breeder in the back corner with a large sign. There are always two breeders there, one by the door, and one in the back. Get there early (before 1pm) so they don't sell out on some things, which I have heard of happeneing. There are also usually a few smaller guys with live rodents for sale, like $.5 for each mouse, pretty cheap.
