My standard large burmese (up to 15') cages are 78" by 39" and 18" high. A few inches less deep should be adequate until your burm reaches about 13 or 14 feet. After 15 feet I build them 8' by 4's that are 2 feet high.

The reason i was aking was because i am trying to adopt some burms.I spoke with a reptile resuce and they told me my cages are to small. they said i needed a cage 4 by 8 by 7 high. So i have turned my walk in closet into a cage. it is 6 by 7 by 7 ft. I am waiting to hear from them.

That is why i dont like adopting Anything from rescues. they make it so hard, Even for the best person they can find for that animal , to get one.
Though i understand that if they drop the standards , it would be puting back into the problum that already exists. But , for me , Owning a total of 47 snakes, And having 11 years of experiance. I cant even get a rescue to call me back. Maybe they just dont like me ? I dunno. Is it the Screen Name ? heh.
The only rescues i'v ever gotten is people who went to a pet store i go to all the time , calls me up sayin the pet store gave them my number. and is in need of getin rid of a snake. Anyway. My Burms are kept in 6x4x2 till they 15' and they seem to get along just fine. 8x4x3's for anything larger.

Burm's arent exactly the most terrestrial of all snakes o_O *espescially* when they get bigger... a 7 feet high cage? I couldn't dream of that for a large burm, they simple don't need it. Eh... That is onething I don't like about rescues -.- Their strict guidlines, but I guess it's just to protect the animal and all..

Yes, my burm cages are 6' high (not 7'). I don't know why folks insist that burms won't use the height. This is the second cage I've had built this high, with shelving inside at different levels, and the burms use EVERY SQUARE INCH. This not only provides for a horizontal thermal range, but a VERTICAL range as well. My burms seem to "enjoy" (for lack of a better word) having the additional areas on which to climb, and it offers them the opportunity to get a little more exercise.

Anyone want to tell me what is wrong with expecting a LOT of room for a BIG snake??
