any one keep there horned frogs at room temps ?
reason i am asking is i quite want one and my reptile room is a good few degree's above normal room temps during summer

just wondered if i would get away with leaving at room temps during summer months and putting on heat mat during the winter ?

I know alot of stores do that and I see alot of posts on people keeping them like that as well. I personally keep mine as close to 80 durring the day and then room temps at night (75ish).

As for heat pads, they are not the best heat source. The frogs burrow to escape teh heat and using one on the bottom of a tank would possibly burn the frog when he burrows.

I use a heat lamp and a 25watt bulb in it and on my other 10gallon tank i use a 40watt bulb.

I admit, this is the first winter I've had my frogs, but I had a heat mat under their cage this summer, when the air cond. had the house around 70*, & they never used that area, so I removed it. Now the house is around 70* again & my pacman began brumating around 3 weeks ago, my dwarf pixie began 2 days ago (but has been refusing food for over a month).

I keep mine at room temp, but that is because my house is always at a hige temp (80 degrees-ish.) If heat were not included in our rent, it'd be different!
