should I be worried?

jovcham Jan 17, 2004 02:22 PM

there have been alot of virgin female veileds laying lately and it got me wondering why my female never became gravid. She's a year old and I am planning on trying to breed her next week.

(had to waite till the boyfriend came back from vacation because he wants to watch... perv... anyway)

She never became gravid without being bred... do some chameleons just not lay infertile clutches? or am I missing something?

some do not lay eggs till after a year old. Mine did at 8-9 months old. Some just mature at different rates. Maybe some got too much to eat for their size or maybe not. It's hard to tell with chams. If she seems healthy and shows no problems go ahead and breed her at one year old. Just do lots of research on gutloads while they are gravid. I add some spirulina, bee pollen, honey, and powdered milk to mine. Lots of breeder sites have their recipie for pregnant female gutload, also supplement her a bit more than before.

I am completely prepaired to breed her, I just became alittle worried that she had not had an infertal clutch and so many others have.

Everything I've read said that "some" lay infertile clutchs, but on here it seems like everyone's females are laying infertile clutches. Just being the concerned mom
