Does it concern you to feed him on a loose substrate like that? You're not worried that some of the substrate might stick to the mouse and be ingested?

Thanks,
Joel

I have never had a problem and always stay on the look out to see they are not ingesting too much. A few pieces ingested is not a problem. They are built to pass it. In the wild they will always ingest dirt. I have been feeding like this for many years.

Cool!

What substrate do you use?

I keep my corn on aspen, and once she constricted the mouse so hard that the thawed mosue popped open. The aspen shavings stuck to the guts, which were very slimy of course, and my corn wound up ingesting what looked to be a lot of aspen. (Though was probably only 2 or 3 shavings). Since then I feed her in a separate container.

Thanks for your info.

only mines just a couple months old. about 6 now actually. what is the diffrence between a butter and a creamcicle? i always assumed mine was creamcicle because of its bright bright oranges with the yellows and lavender around the orange saddles. i'm actually taking it to a local breeder this week to have it checked out and sexed and everything, so i'll find out for sure this week, but i'm just curious. the morphs are a little confusing. heh. thanks for the info-

Creamsicles are Albino Elaphe emoryi X Guttata. So they are intergrades. Butters are Amelanistic caramel Guttata's.
