Personalities

jwr0201 Jun 05, 2003 10:21 PM

It is unbelievable the different personalities that you find in leos! I have to gloat here...one of my juvies is not only unafraid of me, she sitcks her head out of the hide she's in to see what's going on and will walk right onto my hand if I offer it slowly, palm up. I have another that is OK with being picked up for a while and casually looks to get down after a few mements. Then there is the flash - faster than a jackrabbit! Can be held, but then trots off as soon as she gets down. Fortunately, they have learned that they are not in danger of being eaten by me and there is no more hissing or biting. Funny thing is that the nearest one to a normal (high yellow jungle) is the friendliest. Kinda wish she were the Tangerine jungle though. RR

may'be i missed something, but why is it funny that the closes to a normal is the tamest????

Out of the three color forms that I have, I'd have preferred the friendliest to be my Tangerine or Rainbow - both of which I specifically wanted. Getting the little jungle was an imnpulse - had the room and thought she had a good sense of confidence. Read that one right for sure! As it turns out, it was a great move. She is my favorite now - best feeder and extremely curious. I'm waiting for my daughter to get back from vacation to name them, but I think the jungle should be named 'Sherlock'. RR

Yea, my 3 females are all great. The normal is about 8 months old, the albino is about 13 months old, and my patternless is about 1 to 2 months old. They will all 3 eat from my hand, and always run up to the glass to see what I'm doing when I come in the room. They never run into a hide away from me. They will also all come to my hand when I put it in the tank, even the baby, which is great. I have a problem getting my albino back in the tank, she loves to crawl on my shoulders. I got really lucky, they are all very very tame and have no problem with being handled. I'm suprise the baby is so tame. None of the 3 have ever hissed or bitten at me, it's been great. I am definitely a long term leo person, and will keep getting them, they are great animals.

haha,
I feel the same way.
I have a baby that walked straight out of a egg onto my hand. It still runs when I come near its enclosure, but when I hold it, it's calm. Its clutchmate on the other hand is a pest. It barks if I put my hand in its enclosure. The ones that make great pets are the best.

My hypo tang female Aurora is so friendly. When she hears me getting her food ready she'll dart out of her hide. She loves coming out, because i let her explore a bit, and she seems so curious. Another funny thing she does is where EVER she goes, she has to "taste" everything, lol. The thing she loves the most is when i gently rubb her chin. Its funny because she gets this relaxed look on her face and closes her eyes, once i get a camera im gunna have to get a picture of that. I'll stop talking now, lol. L8er
