What size tank is everyone using?

Jo_OscarsMom Jan 17, 2004 04:45 PM

I'm using a 48x18x18 for Oscar, who's full grown and a 36x18x18 for Pip whose 8 months old. Is this ok? It seems a bit cramped with the basking stones.
Thanks!! Jo

how big is the beardie in the bottom neodesha? It looks huge.

Right now I have my bearded dragon in a 36"x18"x25" tank that cost way more than it's really worth to me. Had I known I'd be getting the mali uro I have now (it was neglected, I rescued it), I would have built two stack tanks that would be about 4'x2'x2', instead of having the tanks in my room that take up too much room for what they are.

he weighs 1009 grams and is 24 inches with a tail nip, so we think about 26 -27 inches normally. He is pure German Giant and as much as baby as he is big, extremely gentle and loves attention. He is hard to pick up and hold so he has a blue baby blanket we pick him up in to make him feel more secure and he really eats that attention up.

The cage is really to small for him, but that is why he is on the bottom, he sleeps and basks there, but we open the door and let him run around as he likes til we can get a new enclosure build this spring for him.

I did not raise him, he came to me a few months ago, his owner had problems with their child and needed to concentrate her attention on that, we are very thrilled to have gotten him and he has had excellent care. The one in the cage above him is also one that came from the same owner, that is a female.

Your largest tank is kind of small, a 55 gal breeder or larger is better for an adult dragon. Deffinitely need a bigger place for your 8 month old. I house my female dragon in a cage that is 5'x2'x2' and it gives her lots of room.

Well, I have a 40 gallon breeder for my 4 month old, Peanut (I can't figure out how to upload multiple pics either, so more pics to come!)

Here is Dino's current enclosure, a 65 gallon long (this will be Peanut's when Dino's new enclosure is done, see next post)

And here is the enclosure that I am building for Dino. I gutted an old dresser, tiled the bottom, and will be making a fake rock wall for the back. Will upload more pics when it is done. It is about 6 ft long, 2 1/2 feet wide.

for my babies, I usually use a small 15 gallon tank ...

And for my adults, i use between 30-100 gallon tanks.
Here's a picture of one of my male beardies, Dirk. He loves the room of a large tank.
