Help, Help!!

Ok, my male and female have been separated for about 3 1/2 months now. My male is 6 mos old, the female is about 4 1/2 mos. I put the female in the enclosure with the male, just to see what their interaction would be, and I just sat there and watched for a minute. Anyways, out of nowhere, my male started to nip my female's ear, then grabbed hold pretty good and climbed on her back. I immediately separated them, had to pry his jaws open to get him to let her go. I gave her a good look over, she has no cuts, no missing scales, nothing (he grabbed on to the side of her head, by her ear). Is this aggression, or could he have been trying to mate? It was within a minute that it happened. Boy, I don't know why I tryed it, but I won't do it again. If this is a mating thing, I will wait until they are both about a year and a half. Stupid me, I should not have done that.

or his trying to mate, depends on the dragon, some can mate at 6 months.

But, I agree, putting them together again is something that should wait another year. Also, since he knows there is another dragon that is female around, he may sulk and stop eating for a bit and she might also be a little stressed, so just keep an eye on them.

Thanks Cheri, I feel really bad. They have taken bathes together (both have had 3 clean fecals), and I have not had this problem. I just feel awful for her, but I will keep an eye on the both of them, they are in separate rooms also.

one is reaching sexual maturity and the other one no longer is just a roommate. We have had to separate babies even younger when one starts showing the dominance display
