Update on Pogo...also new picture.........

Well was a little disappointed today..I was 100% sure he was over the coccidia but the vet said no...that there was still lots of eggs noticeable...I'm at a loss here because I've been so thorough with cleaning his cage....Is it possible the vet is wrong? Pogo has grown to 14" now. He was only 5" in Sept. He was 35 grams in december and he's 143 grams now only one month later...He turned 5 mos old since I've had him so I figure he's about 6 mos old now. I thought that with the coccidia he wouldn't put on that much weight or length!! I might seek a second opinion...Anyhow I think he's doing great. As you see he's grown wonderfully so far I think...Getting pretty chunky now...Anyway we'll see what happens!

If you are having doubts about what the vet is saying it may be worth a second opinion. I would hate for it to be true, but you never know if he is just trying get you to keep coming back more often than you should.

We had one that the tech was doing them and when I had the vet check them, the tech was seeing BEE POLLEN that we use in a salad topper!!

Also, there are high resistant coccidia around and it might take a few rounds of treatment to lowe it to minimal levels.

What substrate are you using? Are you avoiding recycling crickets? Also, we always suggest you change cricket suppliers too if you still have a problem with coccidia , especailly if you are buying from a pet store... the crickets can not GET coccidia, but they can carry it on thier legs and ON their bodies if they are recycled from a tank with infected dragons or people handling them.

Here is an article on our site about threating high resistant coccidia

The teck spins it out and then the Vet actually looks at it....Um I use zoomed reptile carpet...I should get a second piece and swap them. He usually doesn't ever poo on the carpet though. He always does it on a rock every morning which is immediately disinfected. I use 1/2 solutions of peroxide, and vinegar and was always wondering if that was strong enough!....I usually never recycle the crix...I did switch..I bought my crix from Petsmart originally but now that he's larger I switched to my local store who orders from BUG CO. Pogo's had the coccidia with both suppliers being used. Those are really my only choices unless I order online which is impossible at this point. No debit or credit card!...What I think I will do is give him the Albon for the next 10 days and then about 3 weeks later I'll get my second opinion!
