where to get a cage?

setmax7 Jun 05, 2003 11:06 PM

BD's need around a 38-60 gallon tank right? Does anyone know of a good place where i can get one for a descent price? It doesn't have to be all decked out just a plain cage is fine. Also, when i first get my bd, should i keep it in the cage that i plan on using when its an adult? If i get a 60 gallon tank would't that might be a little big for a baby bd? WHat about 38 gallon? Lemme know what you think. THanks

Would it be appropriate to put the baby bd in a seperate smaller cage during cricket feeding times? Or would this be a bad idea?

Get the largest tank you can. They sell acrylic seperators in pet shops. You could keep your baby beardie on one side and feed it on the other if you wanted to.
Do you have any herp shows in your area? Tanks are normally sold for $1.00 a gallon at most shows I've been to.
Check out garage sales and check the classifieds in your local paper, just make sure you disinfect any used tank.
You could even put a "wanted" add in your paper. Maybe someone has one that they don't want and just haven't gotten rid of.
Good Luck!

well yes, feeding it in a diferent tank would be very good! the bigger cage the better, so i would go for a 60 gallon or so. 38 gallon is a bit small for an adult BD. If you did end up buying a hatchling, you could put it in a 10 gallon tank, and then as Christyj said, use acrylic seperators slowly expanding the place he can go in the cage. You can check around, maybe some pet stores have a tank with a crack in it, (slight crack, that is) they would give you it for quite a discount, at least my pet store did..good luck!
