I've been giving my turtles cuttlebone without taking the
hard backing off...I didn't know what it was, and they never
seemed to eat it anyway. But just now I read that most of you
take the backing off. What happens if my turtles ate some of
the cuttlebone backing? Will it hurt them? Thanks for any
replies.

I also leave the back on. It hasn't done anything to them after four years so I am not going to start worrying about it now. As you say, they don't eat it anyway! I think that if you remembered from now on to remove it things will be alright

I couldn't get it all off myself so there is a little on the back, but hey, my Oregano doesnt eat it at all.
