My beardie's freaking out!

jake_knos Jan 18, 2004 01:24 AM

ok, so my beardie just recently started getting active again after a couple months of laying around almost but not quite entirely all the time, i assume that was brumation as he seemed totally fine and healthy when he woke up. over the last two or three days he's suddenly been going crazy, running around his tank and frantically trying to climb the glass walls, rubbing his face back and forth against the glass loud enough for me to hear it across the room. he seemed to be reacting to his reflection in the glass, so i turned off the flourescent uvb light i have in there to get rid of some of the light and minimize the reflection. he seemed to calm down for a little while then did the face rubbing thing again, i watched him for a bit and he was puffing out his beard and squeezed his eyes shut and they were bulging out and he almost looked like he was having a seizure or something, and now, 20 minutes later, he's totally calm again.

I just looked, and he's got some loose skin around his mouth, like he's shedding, so that may be his whole problem. The entire time i've had him, and my friend who had him before me (friend got him as a baby, so i've known this little guy his whole life) shedding has always freaked him out, though i've never seen him wig out quite this bad.
Anyone heard of any behavior like this before?

My beardie, Saku, does that every day. Runs back and forth back and forth up against the glass. He just wants out and to go play it think. Seems normal so dont fret.

yeah, he's done stuff like this before, but he seems pretty stressed right now and its not the trying to climb out, but the scraping his face against stuff that's worrying me, he is definitely starting to shed, so hopefully that's all it is

It could be he is jsut trying to scrap stuff of his face. But mine just likes to go nuts! *lol*

He puts his nose against the plexiglass and then GOOOOESSSS! hehe

He wakes me up every morning running back and forth making a ton of noise.

Just watch him and check his face to make sure he isnt hurting himself, but i think he will be fine.

We have an adult male...Syracuse who does that all the time, usually means he wants to be out with us cuz he always calms down once we let him out.

This was a waring that was on the corn snake forum last week and I copied it to post here, not sure if it already was.

Folks,

There is a computer virus/bug going around that seems to have started up on/about Dec. 28 and has been spreading.

From our current understanding, this bug is more like an aggressive spyware type thing and it puts the bug into your system and when you post on message boards, it tags your post with a hyperlink leading primarily to porn related material, but also other websites. People often do not know they even have this bug until they start noticing these hyperlinks showing up that they did not put into their messages.

This nasty bug is spreading on our boards and even some other web-based forum sites. Some folks have unknowingly been clicking on these links. It is unsure if some of these sites are force downloading the spyware/bug on people or if people are unknowingly picking it up after having downloaded some program off other sites and did not know there was a hitchhiker. Either way, if you run your cursor over the hyperlink and look at the bottom of the page, you should see the URL address. If it looks like a porn site or has a "[bleep]" in it, assume it is one of those types of links and DON'T click on it. As we find new domains in the newer links, we have been filtering them out to hopefully help keep the damage down in future posts by infected individuals.

We first started noticing it when usually good members were suddenly posting porn links. We knew something wasn't right. Our suggestion is to download anti-spyware software such as adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com. Also make sure you have antivirus sotware and that it is upto date. A good free antivirus progem is AVG http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php.

There is some discussion about it at http://www.computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/8346.html.

Please if anyone sees any such posts with an active hyperlink at the bottom of someone's message that just says 'Link', REPORT those messages ASAP via the 'abuse report' button (located by the author's name). Not all posts with a default 'Link' at the bottom are bad, but we do want people to alert us to them so that we can check those messages out and if they do turn out to be the bad ones then we can get those messages cleaned up ASAP and inform the individuals of their situation. Unfortunately, some folks have email from us blocked or they have changed ISPs so please also help get the word around.

Additionally, any person we find with this bug posting on the forums will likely have their account temporarily suspended to keep them from posting and possibly spreading this problem even further on the forums. Once they have been made aware of the situation and have their computer cleaned up they can contact the site coordinator to have their account reinstated.

Thank you.
