Took my snake to the vet today...

Got her probed... definite female which makes me very happy.
Now I have to find a pretty het albino male for her to play with or oooooh an axanthic (I REALLY love those). What are the various hets going to be going for this year?

I'm starting to appreciate the Axanthics more myself. Here's the prices I've seen so far this year for MALE hets. Albino het-$250, Axanthic het-$1500, Het Ghost-$300-600(depending on the line and type, etc.), Het Piebald-$1500, Double Het Snow-$6000, Het Genetic Stripe-$5000, Het Clown-$2200, Het Caramel Albino-??? don't know. I also doubt that NERD will be selling any of their Spider hets for ghost or albino, lol. Prehistoric Pets also has a male snake that is 100% het Ghost and 50% poss het for Caramel Albino for $350! I'm seriously thinking about buying this snake, cause I want to get into Ghosts(which they have some awesome specimens of) and it would be really awesome to get a double het snake(Caramel Albino!) for only $350. I would shop around and possibly wait till the end of the season, as prices will be lower then. Hets are a great way to get into morphs, if you don't have mucho dinero, not to mention a relatively affordable Co-dom morph, Pastel is a good way to go too. The Pastel Ghosts are to die for, IMHO. Hope I've helped.

I'd recommend getting her a normal male to breed with, if you haven't bred ball pythons before. Forgive me if you are not new to this, but I've found that it's easier to "practice" cycling, breeding, and incubating when the stakes don't feel so high. Problem is, to make back your money on supplies and stuff you will have to charge about $78 per snake just to break even. This is why you try to pair up more than one female with each male. Each additional female you can pair with a male will spread that cost a little bit. Then, start worrying about getting hets and such. Screwing up the incubator when you are expecting your first hatchlings of het-morphs can be a crushing blow!
