what do you guys feed an adult leopard?

rudedogsurfrat Jun 05, 2003 11:57 PM

A few months ago I adopted a 7 year old female leopard tortoise. The owner fed it lettuce for 7 years, and it looks very healthy. Truthfully feeding an adult leopard tortoise grocery store greens every day gets expensive. How do you switch them to something cheaper like hay? She's been eating wet stuff all her life?

Start planting weeds & different grasses yourself. Check out www.turtlecafe.com for different seeds and opuntia that Kim sells. I just got a pair of 8-9 month old leopard myself. I have been feeding them dandelion, endive, clover, bermuda & timothy grass, hibiscus leaves & flowers, pansy, geranium, petunia, etc. Melissa Kaplan's web site has a list of edible plants that you can buy. Good luck!
