here's how it worked for me.
Try using dim lighting, about an hour after lights out. I started with live, new born pinks and actually fed by hand, not with hemostats. Hold the pinky by the rear 1/3 of the body, and try to get the baby to strike. Some people say nose bumping will get a strike, but it's always been the opposite for me. Touching the pinky to the neck area just behind the head, to about the first 1/4 of the snakes body will usually make them mad enough. Tickling the tail will also get them worked up....just be careful and gentle with the tail. These two methods will usually get the snake mad enough to strike. This is really where the patience comes in. If you do get a strike, try to get a strike and coil. I'm sure the first few attempts will be a strike/grab and drop. Just keep trying.
If you get the baby striking and it starts to seem uninterested, try gently rubbing the pinky along the sides of the mouth. If the baby starts hiding, stop there and try again in a couple of days. Once you get them feeding, they will usually eat at any hour of the day.......until they get older. Good luck......it worked for me.
