Aggresive taiwan... very confused...

Bammer Jun 06, 2003 12:08 AM

My placid taiwan is going crazy! She is a year and 1/2 and 5ft plus... I just moved her to a big 55 gal... and she strikes at me repeatedly from the inside of the cage(this is really shocking me, because I used to love saying my taiwan had NEVER struck at me)... When I try to hold her she isnt aggressive, but more flighty as usual...

Could this just be that she has a really high feeding response and is starting to get hungry? or maybe she is coming into "season"?

Very confused...

thanks for the help...

When you say 'just moved in' - how long have she been in her new home ?

If she's only been in there a few days, she could be feeling a bit skittish as she feels uncomfortable in her new home. In that case I'd just leave her alone for a week or two & allow her to settle in.

I have fed her twice in her new cage... she is such an aggressive feeder. She usually she doesnt start striking until she smells a rat... I hope she is just nervous.

It's possible she's just going through 'a phase' as it were. One of my females started off docile, then went through a period of a couple of months when she was evil - striking everytime I went near her, & now she's pretty much back to normal again.
