can 2 boas be kept in the same enclosure?

darcy Jan 18, 2004 01:17 PM

I am thinking of getting another boa and I was wondering if they could be kept together.
I already have a male and was looking into getting a female.
I dont have a terrarium for her but I plan on making one for when she gets bigger.
any help would be greatly appreiciated.

You can do it but make sure that you keep a rubbermaid container handy for when you feed. And when you feed I would leave them separated for at least 12 hours so that the digestion process begins and the snake has lost a little of the urge to keep on feeding and you do not risk the scent of mice on either snake to enduce a bite from either one causing injury. But at least make sure that the enclosure is bi enough so that they can each have there own little space if they want it.

Thanks,
Wyatt

If you decide to do this, you really really should quarantine the other snake first. Boas can carry some very nasty diseases that might not show up for a few months, and you don't want to lose both your snakes.

"The serpent crams itself with animal life that is often warm and vibrant, to prolong an existence in which we detect no joy and no emotion. It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."
