Mine is cork bark I think. I don't know how durable it is compared to some others, but as for natural appearance it takes the cake.

I would say cork also, and it will last. I do also like my new weldbond, eco earth method, and after it is covered with plants it should look very nice.

your new tank does look good. I like the welbond, eco/cork combination.

I plan to make another one soon. Maybe in a couple weeks. I want to try another idea with it, and want to get another 15gal high ready for some vents.

Did the mix crack at al as it dried? I used a similar mix but with concrete bonder and it cracked a lot.

It did crack a little, but it was easy to patch. I will say it does not seem to rehydrate at least so far. It has only had water in it about a week. I think it is better to keep it a little runny, as it seems to dry harder like that.

Just curious as I would rather use the concrete primer and bonding additive from Ace than Weldbond... After application and drying, does the mix allow water to penetrate/ plants to take root?
yes, it cures to be stiff but not brittle, it will bend/give at a stout finger poke. It is cheaper than weldbond though, but may take more.

I use great stuff crack seal (Foam) with Coco fiber panel. it's more like woven coco fibers that come in rolls. you can buy it at your local nursery for putting in the bottom of wire hanging flower baskets. It come in various thicknes, the thinner stuff usually works best.( more flexible) I tried the wood glue / silicone and coco bedding approach and it never worked out so well. too humid for it. the coco fiber is perfect. it has a natural look and if done right it lasts a long time.
I spray foam in desired shape and after dried I cut several pieces to fit. it takes some eyeballing. then apply silicone to foam, put my coco rug on and use a staple gun to hold it firmly in place. After it dries i remove staples, and plant. any cracks or crevices can be easily filled with the long fibers that are left after cutting patches in desired shape.this looks great when used with cork bark or driftwood too....
peace,
Andy
