I am looking to place a shelf or two in some of my taller tanks. What is the best way to this? I want to plant moss and plants on the shelves as well, or at least attach a few airplants, so what is the best material to do this with?

I have seen people do it a couple of ways. One way is to use cork that is too short for the tank, then fill and level off the top. Then you need something very flat to cover the rest of the back.
I have seen one guy who used a piece f drift wood, atached to the back and then filled the gaps, to make a shelf.
Could also use expandable foam covered in weldbond:eco earth mix. You can make any shape you want with that.
Remember also as soon as you make a shelf you limit the light to the floor under the shelf, so you would have to place your plants in the right place after that.
