Hey Joseph, I haven't seen anyone reply to this yet, so I thought I'd give a little input. I have grapewood branches in a couple of my vivs, but I've never sealed them with anything. The tanks have been going for over a year now, without any signs of severe degradation. Molds and fungi grow on them quite frequently, but I really like this since it attracts fungus gnats (which my frogs eat like crazy!)

Thanks Randy, I was just about to seal them tonight but chickened out because I wasn't sure if the stuff I bought was safe. Now I'll just skip the process altogether. I love mold and fungis as long as it doesn't rot and stink.

That was probably a good idea and I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. In fact, I'm starting to like grapewood just as much if not more than driftwood now. Grapewood just seems to have alot more notches, holes, and crevices for me to attach broms and tillandsias to, plus I think grapewood can give a little more of that "old growth" look to my vivariums. As long as it's not sitting in a body of water constantly, I don't think you'll have any problems. The grapewood that I have gets misted about 4 times a week, so it stays pretty moist with no ill effects from what I've noticed.

Thanks, Mine may get misted a lot more often then yours since I'm intent on having a bit more airflow in this tank to prevent fogged glass and that nasty green slime mold that kills my moss. I'm thinking of 80% humidity with two or three one minute misting per day and a 30 minute misting every 4th or 5th day to get rid of the frog poo.
