Updated pics of my 20 gallon vertical conversion updated!

FalconBlade Jan 18, 2004 10:46 PM

Thought I'd share the results of this project. Everything is turning out great and the Weldbond has not rehydrated at all which I feared it would. There are no frogs in the tank yet and I'm hoping to fill it with either a couple imitators or small group of red amazonicus this coming month. My next project will be, yet another 20 gallon high (sitting top up) for a couple of reticulatus which I should be getting this coming month as well. As for now, the opening in the side is covered with saran wrap and taped in place until I can find some good, cheap acrylic to use as a door. The bottom is basically a pane of glass siliconed in place and the door will be hinged to the upper edge of this and fold down. I could easily do the door in glass but I would be sacraficing ,uch need ventilation as I will be keeping a couple of minature orchids and possibly a few tillandsias in the upper portion of the background. For more info on this tank, please read the captions below the pictures. The link below will take you to the pictures.

Thanks for the nice comments Matt and Kyle!! I am happy with the moss for now, but doubt it will grow there. It seems to do good as a substrate or growing on pieces of wood however. I basically placed it in that upper area to help hide the background material a little until the creeping fig starts taking over. I'm sure that moss will end up as food for the fig anyway. In the event that the moss thrives, I will just have to keep the ficus trimmed back away from it.
