Strange behaviour - yes or no?

My one year old Diamond Python has decided that he prefers to live underneath the mat (Astro turf) on the bottom of his box. the astro turf is covered in kitty litter (like paper gravel) and he never seemed to mind it and quite often lived in his hide box. I only have a couple of small rocks in the bos and a few brnches but no leaves or green stuff. Las week when I was putting him back in to the cage the corner of the mat was folded up and he discovered it and has now made himself a home under there.

At the moment it's pretty hot here so his box is a constant 30 degrees even without a light. I'm still using a red light at night to keep the temp up to 25 degrees.

Any advise? maybe more rocks to hide under?

Snakes in gerneral like nice cozy dens so no it isn't strange at all. If you want to add more hiding spots he'll probably use them.

I'm not sure if its a good idea to have him curled up in kittly litter though. Most kitty litter in the US tends to be fairly dusty stuff. If the stuff your using isn't then never mind. Other wise I'd probably try to discourage him from getting under there as much as possible.
