keeping acf tadpole tanks clean... help!

ginevive Jan 19, 2004 07:38 AM

I have a question. How do you keep your acf tadpole tanks clean? I tried netting the larger tads out in order to drain the tank with a siphon, but then I end up netting the debris out with them and in it goes, into the nice clean water. I don't want to use the siphon without the net, becuz then the tads would get swept down the drain too. I was using a turey baster for the smaller tads, but the big ones are way too messy for that to be effective now.
Is it ok to use an aquarium filter with the larger tads? they are longer than an inch and a half, and their tails have a black tip, and their faces have the little whisker things. Do you think they would get caught in a low-powered filter?

I replied at talk to the frog, but I think a slighly dirty tank is beneficial to encourage growth of organisms and algae cells for them to eat - as long as no fungus is observed on waste matter.
