my brother has a young 12-15in. rat snake and has kept him in ceader chips for about 2 days..this morning he went to feed him and he could hardly move..i know that it causes respotory problems and have never used it or had this problem.

what should i do????

I'd take it out of cedar chips. Then I'd probably take it to the vet to find out what the heck happened, the cedar chip thing might be a coincidence. They're bad, but I always thought they were a bit more slow acting.

cedar toxins can be absorbed through most soft tissue surfaces. I would make sure no chips or chip particles are left in the snake's mouth or nostrils, remove any you see. A Q-tip with water usually works for cleaning out mouth and gums.
