weird poop places?

shelley7950 Jan 19, 2004 10:02 AM

My female iguana Endora is free roaming (basking shelf on the living room wall, free range of the living room, hallway and kitchen)and for months we had discussions about where she chose to poop...somehow I wasn't wild about the middle of the second cushion on the living room couch...Anyhow, for the past few months, that's all been solved...

One day when I was cleaning in the kitchen I noticed a plastic grocery bag that had fallen into the narrow space between my dog's crate and the wall; when I picked the bag up I saw two distinct iguana poops inside it...I threw that bag out and replaced it with a clean bag (carefully propped open) and sure enough, the next time she had to go, Endora climbed down from her shelf, trundled across the floor to the kitchen and went straight into her "poop bag"...Now, all I have to do is pick up the soiled bag, tie it shut, toss it in the trash and replace it with a fresh one...no fuss, no muss...

Does anyone else here have stories about weird poop places? I never cease to be amazed at what goes through those strange iguana brains...

I recently received two rescued iguanas and the both of them have pooping habbits already. They have been free roaming it for the past week until there new cage is complete (used to be my walk in closet). The male, Blue, jumps down off of his little basking stand and struts through the living room and dining room and into the kitchen. Here he proceeds to turn around, face the living room again and poop away. Which isn't a problem because my kitchen is linoleum flooring and a mop and some bleach and it's all clean again. The female (Gold Nugget Boo Boo) however, has different habits. She will not poop unless it is on my chair in the living room. There are three chairs and two couches in my living room and she picks just one chair. It has to be at the back corner of the chair too. So, I have had the pleasure of sitting on newspaper on my chair for the past week. Gotta love 'em.

When I first adopted my ig (almost a year ago), he pooped on newspaper in the kitchen. Then he switched to the corner tiles by my front door/walkway. Then when he began his breeding season, he won't poop anywher else other than 1) his heating pad or 2) the right cushion on my couch. It's getting really annoying! I am sick of cleaning 2x a day.
