I have read bad news, on the Macrovipera schweizeri, in Greece is in order to disappear are only little exemplary in nature. I wanted to know if this news is real, or is false. Thanks for the information.

The species has been on the endangered list for some time. There approx. 2-3000 specimens on the island, but mortality if high due to high levels of vehicle trafic related to mining activities. I haven't heard of anything that suggests that the situation has worsened recently, but it is of course possible. It certainly requires effective action to prevent extinction over the next decade or two.
