Hello,
I recently noticed my 7.5 year old caiman pointing its snout upwards, inflating its throat and vibrating its back (read online that this is infrasonic and called the 'water dance').
Is this a sex determining behavior?
Thanks!
Rob

Yes, a male for sure.
Just curious, how big is he? And he's a spec I assume?

Hi Seth, thanks for the quick reply. He is a Spectacled Caiman and probably about 4.5'+ (I really should take a new measurement).
Here is a short film from last February when I drained his pond for cleaning :
nice video, it looks like he almost got you, nice looking caiman too. can't wait for all of mine to get that big. looks fun!
Michael
Usually a male. In fact I've never seen a female spec do it.
I have however seen female american alligators do this behavior. He definitely has the typical spec attitude.D.C.
