I've been considering getting myself a tegu for quite a while now. I have 4 leopard geckos (2 adults, 2 offspring from them) and a ball python; the begginers' stuff. I would really like to get into something a bit more involved. I like BIG lizards - that won't take my hand off. I've read everything about these animals I can find, but any links/caresheets are welcome.

If I were to purchase a lizard I'd buy a Black and White Tegu from Agama International.

I'd like to heard some thoughts about this, whether or not anyone thinks it a bad/good idea for me to aquire a new pet. I'd like to hear some estimates about how much it costs to feed one lizard yearly/monthly/weekly, and any other comments anyone may have.

I want the get a tegu as soon as possible..... I still need a while to get an enclosure set up and everything, but it's winter. Will this effect/disturb its hibernation at all? I'm not even sure one should ship a lizard in this weather, the warmest part of the day is still below 32F! Anymore thoughts on this? Oh, I'd like to see some pictures of enclosures everyone has, for ideas and such. I plan on building a custom one when my tegu gets big enough. Thanks, Dave
