Question for Grimdog and/or LizardLadyAma...

mismodliz Jan 19, 2004 02:34 PM

I was looking through your site at your breeders and babies.

In the picture on your available animals page --Athena / Angus Offspring (Hatched 5/26/03)-- the babies seems so dark! I think they are both absolutely beautiful! (esp. the red-orange markings on the top one).

I looked around more and found the parents, but they seem much lighter. Is it common for some babies to turn out so dark and will they keep this color through adulthood?

Just curious... I haven't had the chance to see beardies of different colors in person, and I don't know a lot about them.

Hey, I had to go look at the pictures. I think that a lot of beardies start off very dark. They tend to lighten with age. A lot of our dragons start out almost black. Those were our first colored dragons. When they start shedding it is always exciting. They lighten and the color comes out, with each shed. I hope to hatch some dragons out that are awesome out of the egg this year. So far though I have done a lot of normals and most of them are very dark. The third dragon that Kelly and I bought was almost black when we got him (onyx), and now he is a very pale dragon. I like his current color but I wish he would have stayed black. I wish I knew what that one with red stripes looks like now. But he is off in england, I wholesled all the males I had out as I did not have a KS account and didn't want to sign up for one and get all the shipping supplies for 5 dragons. Next year I will.
