Back Drops=Happy?

skinkgirl Jan 19, 2004 04:52 PM

Hey everyone!(This is probably going to sound really really stupid.) Just out of curiosity would gettting a back drop help my skink in anyway. I wanted to get a desert themed back drop because they look cool but I was just wondering if they had any other benefits(or dare I say hazards)Thanks!
Another quik thing what is the deal with the...
1.1.0=schneider's skinks
1.2.0=cats
so on and so fourth
It confused me.(I am easily confused)

The thing I like about backdrops is that they hide wires and they reduce the reflection your animal sees. The reflection can cause stress as they view it as another animal.

The numbers refer to males, females, and unknown or not sexed yet. So if you had 1 male. 2 female, and four baby Blue Tongued Skinks you would write:

1.2.4 Blue Tongued Skinks

I think they help. When I first got my BTS, I'd read that enclosing 3 sides of the tank w/ backdrop or something would help reduce stress. There have been times when I wished all 4 sides were covered, as he sometimes obsesses on the 'open' side, walking back & forth & rubbing his nose on the glass. I feel like it's a significant stress reducer & would recommend putting backdrop on 2 or three sides. Plus, it looks nice
