How long do wax worms stay alive? And if they were put in the fridge, would that prolong their life?

I was told not to refrigerate them by my pet store but have read other places to do so. Crack the lid of the container as condensation will lower the life expectancy (but make sure the cup is tall enough because they are little escape artists) Remove only those you are going to feed and keep the rest refrigerated. If kept in cups in the frig they ususally last about 3 weeks.
