Adult Leopard Gecko Not Eating

krissybush Jan 19, 2004 08:05 PM

Hi,

My adult leopard gecko (almost 2 years old) has not eaten for the past week. She is a very large well fed girl, but she has never gone more than a few days without eating at least 1 mealworm. There has been no change in her diet, cage, or what her food has been eating. She has seemed perky up until tonight when she turned sluggish. Nothing appears to be physically wrong with her (no cuts, bruises, etc.). Any suggestions?????????? Thanks.

Krissy

also its comin time round breeding, and your leo may be ovulating. it may cause her to refuse eating till its done.

for some leos to slow down eating or even go off food completely for weeks at a time at this time of year. Advice to check the temps is good, but I find that leos will sometimes purposefully cool themselves and do a mini-brumation of sorts by hanging out in the cooler areas of the tank at this time of year. If her stools have been solid, she's not on granular substrate (impaction risk) and you know she's not eggbounfd (look at her belly) I really wouldn't worry.
