Cool carbon, hopefully the added light will make your little girl much happier. I think it will bring out her true self and she will eat a lot more. If you read the post below about the rescue dragons that cheri sent me they have come such a long way. The reason that Cheri and I believe they have started to thrive so much is because of the intense light that they get now. So light does make a huge difference, in appetite, attitude, and overall well being.

What do you guys recommend for heat? I've been using 200 watt regular lightbulbs, but I still wish I could get it a few degrees warmer, and I hate using up so much energy. I've seen people talk about using spots, but I don't know what wattage to start off with. Any suggestions?

I HIGHLY recomend halogen flood bulbs (like the ones used in motion lights or security lights). They rock. Direct all light downward and put out an awesome quality light. There is always a way to lower the wattage used (200 watt is a high wattage) the best being raising up the basking spot closer to the bulb. If you raise the basking spot by 12" will probably reduce the neccesary wattage by 50%. just my thoughts.

I'm gonna try the halogen bulbs. I've got the basking spot about 9 inches below the bulb, I don't think I can get it any closer. It's just that so much of the top is screen, it's letting a LOT of heat out. So I think something with a more concentrated light is what I need.
