Hi, yeah my enclosure is about 48 iches x 36 inches, i built it out of wood and made a section that has a cover for their hide box. I lined it with plastic that i got from the local paint store. I use i mixture of repti-bark and bed-a-beast, which is pretty much bark and coconut fiber. I just put random plants i find at the local garden shop in there. Its trial and error as to which ones survive in the hot and humid environment. I stay away from any plants that seem like they may be harmful to the turtles but i have had them in that enclosure for half a year now and they havent even nibbled at the plants so im not too worried.
I dont change the substrate often at all. I had a little bit of a bug problem earlier but i just removed all the substrate and rinsed it in hot water and put it back and everything was fine. I let sections of the substrate dry out every once in awhile to keep it from getting moldy and stuff but i would say i only clean the substrate every three months. I dont know if this is ideal though.
Other then that i have one ceramic heat bulb hooked up, one hologen spot light hooked up, two uvb tubes hooked up and a heat stone (in a silicon sealed tupperware container filled with sand) in the hide section. Im planning on getting one of the powersun uvb lightbulbs (when the prices here in Canada arent outrageous) and getting rid of the flourescent tubes (they dont seem effective to me). And i am still working on a good misting system. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
i feed crickets and mealworms and butterworms just on the substrate and i let him hunt them. Vegetables and fruit and chicken and stuff i put in a flat plate and just leave it in the enclosure. Yeah thats about it. Hope that answers all your questions.
