Can MTS eat animal protein?

Flavia Guimaraes Jan 19, 2004 09:41 PM

Some INTERNET sites say yes and recommend giving them dog food, snails and eggs.Others say no because they are vegetarian. Im asking these questions because im worried with Leonardo.I have had him since July and he gained only 150 grs and grew only 1 inch and a half during these months. Now he is only 21 inches and around 410 grs!

Despite what the far majority of people claim, I think it is fine to occaissonally, and by occaissionally i mean occaissionally, give animal protein to PTS. I currently have 5 and over the past 2-3 years i've given them hard boiled eggs about once every 2-3 months or so, maybe longer, i rarely do it, but they hate calcium powder, and they will eat crushed eggshells with the hardboiled eggs. Based on just watching them react to cages around them, us etc etc, its hard for me to beleive that if they did come across a small bird or larger insect that they would eat it. Should you neccesarily include it in your diet scheme, no. would it hurt, i highly doubt it.
