Feeding Help!!!

zippobsquared Jan 19, 2004 10:29 PM

Um yeah, I just got a new adult female bearded dragon, she eats crickets and superworms, but how do I get her to eat other stuff like veggies, cat food, or pelleted beardie food?

And she only eats the bugs that get really close to her, is this normal? Or is she fed too much and is being lazy?

THanks

Don't feed any cat food.
To get mine to eat veggies, I tried the 'hitting it in the nose with a big leaf' method. Worked pretty well.
Reptiles are lazy unless they're forced not to be.

"The serpent crams itself with animal life that is often warm and vibrant, to prolong an existence in which we detect no joy and no emotion. It reveals the depth to which evolution can sink when it takes the downward path and strips animals to the irreducible minimum able to perpetuate a predatory life in its naked horror."

Please, do some reading on beardie food. Don't even think about cat food. A beardie is, obviously, not a cat...

Check out the link below for a great page with lots of information about nutrition content and general beardie care. Good luck!

CAT FOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, lay off the pipe. NEVER EVER feed your beardie catfood. It doesn't contain the things that dragons need to be healthy. If you want to feed dry food use RepCal juvie pellets they are formulated for dragons. As far as getting him to eat it try putting some supers or what it is eating right now in the dish with the salad or repcal so that it has to pick some up with the worm. It will get the message that it is food eventually.
