Calcium (D3) Deficiency?

aquakej Jan 20, 2004 10:15 AM

Hello,

I have a baby gecko whose front legs are weak. They look fine, other than the fact that they just drag along. This little girl has had problems shedding, too. Since she isn't very mobile, I feed her baby food out of a syringe. I mix calcium and liquid vitamins into the baby food, and feed her flavors that have the most protein and carbs. She eats it very well, so I'm pretty sure that she is getting enough calcium; I'm just worried that she isn't able to use it, and therefore her bones are becoming flacid. I don't use any kind of special lighting over the leopards, but maybe some kind of UV bulb would be helpful over a sick gecko? Can anyone reccommend a specific type of bulb, and tell me how long I should put her under it?

What brand of calcium do you use, and does it contain d3...do the liquid vitamins contain d3?

Yes, the powdered calcium does contain D3. I'm not at home now to check whether the vitamins have it or not.
