I was wondering if, instead of feeding my sick/not eating leopard gecko meat baby food, I should try dog or cat food. Is there more protein in this? Has anyone had any experience with this? I have canned cat food at home already, so is that safe to try?

I would say no. Mammels and reptiles are very different and need different types of vitamins and protein. I dont know if cat/dog food holds much value to reptiles. This is just an opinion, and a very humble one at that. You should probably wait till a more experienced person replies.

Well... this is according to my vet. You can use dog food to assist feed, but not just any dog food. There's a very good one called Science Diet A/D which I guess you can use to feed just about anything. However, he thought baby food was just as good. I've used both. I think the key is that in both baby food and A/D the protein is in a very digestible form.

I've used AD as well for a sick gecko. The vet recommended it. Just thin it w/ warm water & you can spoon or syringe feed it.
