Sheet styrene for cham cage flooring..?

dragonbreeder Jan 20, 2004 11:15 AM

Does anyone use sheet styrene for the flooring of their cham cage?

I know that in the mid 90's I had purchased some really nice screen cham cages with styrene as the flooring.

I usually use plexiglass, but would like to switch, and am trying to be sure that the material in those cages was in fact styrene.

Yes, I think this is the material that is used in the commercially made screened enclosures (like sold at Scales and others). It is white and not too flexible. It washes easily, and is not harmed by bleach.

You can check with the sellers of these cages - they will know if it is indeed styrene.

Good luck,

The ones we use are Sintra (but that may be a company product name). But any PVC type plastic will work. Use at least a 3mm or 4mm thickness. Look at a sign supply store (they are called blanks) for small quanity purchases.

Thanks. The reason I ask is I have some real nice styrene sheets, and just wanted to be sure that it weas safe.
