Developing characteristics, How?..........

jenni270986 Jan 20, 2004 11:58 AM

when she's old enough and big enough i am hoping to breed sky (picture) and develop her markings (the orange stripes etc.
What sort of male would you recomend to develop her characteristics?
i was thinking hypo tang or something like that.
any ideas?

Did you buy her knowing that she'd develop those orange stripes? Or is that just luck of the draw?

If you can afford it, I would recommend you breed her with an HQReptiles Red Stripe Line male. You could do some amazing things with your female.

Check out www.hqreptiles.com and read up and look at the pics of red stripes.

Otherwise, I think your best bet would still be to breed her to a striped animal.

no i didn't know she would have those stripes at all!
when i brought her she looked like an aberant (only a hatchling with the dark markings)
ill try a strpe then, if i can afford one!

I have to say, IMHO, that that leo is a one of a kind animal.

It's kind of like hitting the lottery or breeding 2 random, normal leos and hatching out albinos, without any idea that they were het for albino.

You could line breed that girl and really pull out those nice, bright, wavy orange stripes.

If I were you, I'd email Matt and Susan at HQReptiles (they're nice people - though I've never met them in person) and ask them what they think of her.

Once again, that's a great looking (and healthy looking!) leo.

Joel

PS: Whatever you do, don't give her away!

Hi Jenni

I could take a pretty good guess at how old she is, but I think that I will go directly to the sorce (you) and ask how old she is?.

TLB

p.s. her markings are really great, Wow!.

jenni270986 Jan 20, 2004 02:46 PM

she hatched out in july 03,
so 6 months (obviously no where near ready to breed) so that gives me plenty of time to find her a male.

Hi Jenni

My thought was that you could consider waiting until she is a full grown female to see what her final color morph will be, then find her a male. But it doesn't hurt to look in the mean time. Just a thought Jenni, and boy did you get a beautiful little girl there. I now you will have a lot of fun watching her.

Take Care, TLB
