Please Help..lizard not active

HomaDragon Jan 20, 2004 03:15 PM

I know that it is winter..and the hibernating thing...but i am choosing not to hibernate my bearded dragon because of her apearance and behavior. I have noticed in the last 7 months or so that she is not active at all. If i did not have to feed her, she would simply not move from her piece of wood. Her energy when feeding her is not there any more, and she will only eat a cricket if it is in front of her face..and thats about it. I have a wooden cage with a light that gets about 110 at the basking site...which is probably too much. I went into a pet store and saw a bearded dragon and it was running all about the cage. If anybody has some advice for nurishment, or anything i am doing wrong please reply. Thank You--

when is the last time your beardie had a fecal? How big is it (length/weight)? Does your Beardie go to the bathroom daily? is it hard? look for signs of dehydration. In my expierience, when some Beardies are ready to brumate there's no stopping them.

She is three years old..and always lived by herself. She pooped today...but that was the first time in a while because she wont eat very much at one time anymore. It was soft..but about 2 inches long

if her poop is soft then she is probably staying hydrated. thats important. Have you tried varying her diet? silkies, roaches...? you might also want to try more light. A bright enclosure encourages eating too. All in all if this has been going on for a while a fecal is a good idea. If you start to see her pelvic bone then go to a vet right away. (the bone between her back legs)
