Tremper Albinos

JDM2007 Jan 20, 2004 04:18 PM

I have just ordered a Male Tremper Albino leo from Alex Hue.
I told my freind and he said that most albinos are agressive! Is this true? Will he attack my females in a harmful way? And can you tame them down? This is my first "designer" Leo.
Now i just have some high yellows, a Tremper carrot tail and a wild caught normal.

Thanks for looking

I specialize in trempers and in my experience, they are just the opposite- gentler than other leos, real sweeties, very tame. At least my line seems to be that way. I have heard that blizzards are more aggressive overall but I don't work them personally, I know there are some sweet blizzards but it seems like there are an awful lot of people who say theirs are mean and aggressive.

Hi Just wondering since you specialize in Trempers, do you breed jungle or chocolate ones? Are they becoming more popular or available in your opinion?

Thankyou

Red

I don't personally work with chocolates. I don't use temp-manipulation, but mine tend to be light, with some nice contast at normal incubation temps. Seems to be genetic? Here is the darkest tremper I have produced yet, the temps were turned down at the end of his incubation (Had temp control probs this season=I was getting males I didn't intend, so cranked down my temps a lot, will get a digital thermometer this season)

Sorry, I don't know of any references for you for chocolate trempers.

I work with most of the major morphs, and my geckos are all very sweet and tame. Tremper albinos are generally sweethearts! In my opinion, here is the order I rate mine in regard to their dispositions:

#1 - Patternless, hands down. They are consistently sweet.. all of them!
#2 - Tremper Albinos. I have 6 breeders, and only one is what I would call "feisty," but still sweet.
#3 - Tangs, Jungles, Stripes, HY's (line bred traits) I have a few that are not very sociable, but still not unmanageable.
#4 - Blizzards. Although all of mine are very calm and tame, I have had a few offspring that were a little wacky.

Keep in mind that Leopard Geckos each have their own distinct character and personality, and tolerate handling in varying degrees. I'll probably get yelled at, but I handle all of my offspring right out of the egg. Each one of my geckos (as many as 150 at a time!!!) gets held every day, even for a brief period, and usually when they go out to their new homes they are relatively tame!

I've noticed the same thing with patternless leos. When it comes to handling they seem to be the tamest / calmest. My albinos are pretty spunky, but none are nasty or aggressive.

Whatever she is doing to her leos are well worth it. We have three from her one is a Patternless, another is a golden and another is a hypo. All three are so tame is kinda scary. Especially the Patternless "Banana" I have to say she is my favorite that Jeff has at his house right now. She seems so danty like a litle flower. She just sits there and loves to be held and her head rubbed. She is so cute.

My Tremper Ablino female Abby is very docile. She's one of the more tame and relaxed leos i have. I absolutely love her

Of the two blizzards i have the male is the aggressive one. He seems very very scared even when i just come up to the tank and look in. I've got to start spending alot more time with him i think.
