Robyn is trying to make a name for himself as Frank Retes did with monitors. Well there is really not that many secrets left to uro husbandry. That was all cracked back in the eighties. Anyway I will just let him think he is making a breakthrough in uro husbandry. Beleive me I have tried dirt like that before and it makes more of a mess than it is worth. Wait till all it gets soaked with urates and starts to stink. Also there will be a layer of dust all over evrything in these peoples homes.

Thats great everyone is posting and discussing and debating, it is a forum for just that !

I myself, have followed it all, and I prefer to do things my way, they have worked for me and my uro's.

I have several thoughts, I do not like the idea of just DIGGING UP DIRT, that some are doing. I think this is asking for parasite problems down the line. With mites, bacteria's all sorts of nasties ! Heat that dirt up and hatch all sorts of little creatures living in it !
I will take my chances with washed playsand !

I know from my beginner days using live moss from outside in my tree frogs tanks, geesh with in weeks, I had a ton of little white bugs (harmless) but everywhere (Springtails) and then started to lose frogs from bacterial infections.

Now, I do know frogs are much more sensitive but as soon as I got that crap out and cleaned it all up, I have not had any problems in 3 years.

Also, if ya want to revert them back to wild behavior, thats fine for some. I do not want a reptile that size acting wild, tail whiping after awhile if you try and pick it up months down the line, when you happen to catch it.
And no doubt soon, when it sees you it will just run, into a burrow.

I want to see my animals, check their health on a daily basis,
interact to a point. Otherwise I would have not purchased it and they might as well not be imported as pets, leave them there !!!

And I solely am responsible for my reptiles and their care and cleaning. ** THAT MEANS having to move tanks, to clean or make room for other tanks wahtever, how the hell can ya move 150 lbs of dirt? I'd be afraid being the second floor room it would come CRASHING through the ceiling LOL.

Oh well just some thoughts , my opinions ! Everyone has the right to do their own thing !

I'm passionate about what I'm doing , its good for me !!! LMAO
